The Malayali historian, social critic, and feminist Devika J. from Centre for Development Studies (CDS) in Thiruvananthapuram, India, will spend one month at our department.

The Department of Gender Studies and SASNET (Swedish South Asian Studies Network) will host during one month Dr. Jayakumari Devika from Centre for Development Studies (CDS) in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Devika did her Master of Arts in Modern History (1991) from Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and obtained her PhD in History from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

During this week she has held a keynote speech at the Ninth European PhD workshop in South Asia Studies in Höllviken, Sweden, on 18–19 May 2015. SASNET hosts this two-day annual workshop for a maximum of 20 PhD candidates and six faculty members from European universities who work on South Asian topics.
