Changing Conditions for Gender Studies
Academics from the field of gender studies will discuss the adaptations, continuities, challenges and impacts of gender studies in today’s societal and political landscape. Participants include Professor Elisabeth L Engebretsen, Professor Ulrika Dahl, Professor Mia Liinason together with Doctor Niclas Järvklo.
Reflecting over the time and place of gender studies in today’s academia and political climate this roundtable traces the changes and continuities that characterize gender studies today – in academia, in society, and in the subject area itself. Each panelist gives a short introduction to the topic from their situated location in the field, after which the roundtable engages in a joint discussion around the past, present and future of gender studies. The roundtable will highlight challenges, but also possibilities, in a discussion around how we can imagine academic practice and collaborations otherwise.
Roundtable participants:
Elisabeth L Engebretsen, Professor of Gender Studies, Stavanger University
Niclas Järvklo, Doctor in History of ideas, Stockholm University
Ulrika Dahl, Professor of Gender Studies, Uppsala University
