SUMMARY:Mapping antipreneurship within the global anti-gender project
DESCRIPTION:Kontakt: ov_cristian.norocel@genus.lu.se\n\nGender Studies Semi
nar with Isobel Squire (Malmö University\, Sweden)Mapping antipreneurship
within the global anti-gender projectAbstractIn the context of continued
anti-gender mobilisation\, antipreneurship offers a useful lens to concept
ualise actors to this global project. Antipreneurship is a mode of behavio
ur wherein actors work to defend status quo norms against efforts to induc
e norm change. In the context of sustained pushback against gender and sex
ual equality norms\, antipreneurship offers a lens to understand how these
standards are contested while stereotypical gender roles and exclusive he
teronormative values are defended. The production and promotion of such al
ternative gender agendas have significant and far-reaching consequences an
d are gaining rapid momentum.&nbsp\;Drawing on insights from a decade of r
esearch on anti-gender mobilisation\, this talk traces the growing influen
ce of some of the key actors spearheading contemporary contestations of ge
nder equality. It examines their evolving strategies\, shifting objectives
\, and emerging patterns of organising\, illustrating how antipreneurial d
ynamics impact the global landscape of gender politics.BioDr Isobel Squire
holds a PhD in Global Politics from Malmö University and currently works
as a lecturer at the Department of Global Political Studies. Her doctoral
project focused on the production and promotion of alternative gender nor
ms by anti-gender actors and examined the contestation of the Istanbul Con
vention in Hungary and Poland. Her research interests include politicisati
ons of gender and sexuality within the global anti-gender project\, the po
litics of violence against women and norm contestation.Chair: Ov Cristian
