In this public lecture Professor Nikita Dhawan will be critically engaging with the prospects and limits of discourses of global gender equality and justice from a postcolonial perspective.
Nikita Dhawan, a philosopher by training, is a Professor of Political Science (Political Theory and Gender Studies) and Director of the Research Platform Gender Studies: "Identities – Discourses – Transformations" at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Her recent publications include: Global Justice and Desire: Queering Economy (co-ed., 2015), Negotiating Normativity: Postcolonial Appropriations, Contestations and Transformations (co-ed., 2016), and Difference that makes no Difference: The Non-Performativity of Intersectionality and Diversity (ed., 2017). In 2007, Nikita Dhawan received the Käthe Leichter Award for outstanding achievements in the pursuit of women’s and gender studies, from the University of Vienna.
