Mini- Symposium: Gender Studies Research and Education - Collaboration

The Center for Women’s and Gender Research/SKOK, Bergen University visits the Department of Gender Studies, Lund University on May 20th.

Professor Professor Christine Jacobsen (Head of SKOK) and Professor Randi Gressgård are visiting our Department today and attending to the Mini- Symposium entitled: "Gender Studies Research and Education - Collaboration". The Centre for Women’s and Gender Research (SKOK) is an interdisciplinary research centre that aims to service all the faculties at the University of Bergen. SKOK’s main objective is to strengthen women’s and gender research at the university at large. SKOK aspires to function as a vital arena for researchers not only at our own university, but also to serve as a link to other research communities, both nationally and internationally. One of SKOK’s main goals is to secure a long term interdisciplinary competence building in this field of research. SKOK also offer a bachelor program in gender studies and doctoral education.

During the Mini-Symposium different scholars from the Department of Gender Studies will briefly present their research projects and even discuss their roles at the department. The participants from our department are: Sara Goodman, Head of Department, Professor Helle Ryström, Professor Jens Rydström, Lecturers Lena Karlsson, Maja Sager, Rebecca Selberg and PhD-Fellow Maria Tonini.

During the Mini-Symposium SKOK will even present their research project  'Differentiated Citizenship' (CIFCIT), a project where gender in a globalized world is one of the topics for this interdisiplinary research project that is a cooperation between Norway, South Africa, Denmark, England and Sweden http://www.uib.no/en/skok/87390/differentiated-citizenship
